Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some questions we are often asked.  If you still need advice, please send us an email or give us a call.  We're happy to help.  You may also find answers in our Terms & Conditions.

What kind of equipment do you use?  We use Gratz, classical equipment built to the specifications and dimensions of the equipment created by Joseph Pilates to give you a full body, full-on challenge each and every session.

Do you have drop-in classes?  As our building is mostly residential, we do require that all students book their classes with us in advance, using our online booking system and cannot accept drop-ins.

I'm a beginner, what are my best options?  We require anyone new to our studio to book our *Introductory Pack- 3 private sessions* before you will be able to join any of our group studio.  

How much time should I allow before class?  We suggest you arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the start of class, in order to give you time to check-in, change and prepare for class.  

Do you have a waiting area?  Yes.  We have a comfortable reception area, where you wait for your session to start.  This area is reserved for students only.  As our studio is open by appointment only, if you arrive more than 10 minutes before your scheduled session or group class, there may not be someone there to greet you.  

What should I wear?  Please dress comfortably.  Your clothes should allow you to stretch and move freely.  Please refrain from wearing anything with zips, large buttons or anything else that could tear the upholstery or otherwise damage the equipment.  You may be required to place a pad under you to work-out, should you wear such clothing, in order to keep the upholstery free from damage.

What about jewellery or watches? It's always best to leave your valuables at home.  You will be asked to remove your jewellery/watch.  You are responsible for any valuables you bring into the studio.  

Do you have lockers?  No.  However, our studio has plenty of space inside the Pilates studios for purses/bags and other valuables for you to use to keep them safe for the duration of your practice.

Do you have changing rooms?  Yes.  We have 3 private changing areas.

Do you have shower facilities?  No.  

What about footwear?  Outdoor shoes must be left in the reception area in the storage areas provided.  For hygienic reasons, you may wish to wear socks or other Pilates specific footwear throughout your lesson. 

Do you provide mats and props?  Yes!  We use Gratz classical raised mats.  Additional  props that you may need for class are also provided free of charge.  You are welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer to use your own for matwork exercises.  We recommend a thicker mat to protect your spine during our Pilates workouts.

Can I eat before class?   Like all exercise, Pilates is best practiced on an empty stomach.  We recommend that you do not eat for at least 2 hours prior to class.  We suggest that you drink plenty of water prior to class and to bring a bottle of water with you to the class/private session. 

What if I have an injury or medical condition? Before the start of any practice with bePilates you will be asked a series of questions to help you determine if a course of fitness is appropriate for you (PAR-Q).  It is your responsibility to notify us if your condition changes. We, and our teachers, reserve the right to ask you not to participate in a class if we feel that it would be inappropriate for you because of an injury or medical condition.  If you are uncertain of whether or not Pilates is suitable for you, please contact us.  For the avoidance of doubt, pilates is a workout.  Pilates is not rehabilitation.

Are mobile phones allowed in the studios?  Pilates places emphasis on concentration and focus. We want everyone to be mindful of this and to keep mobile phone disruption to a minimum out of respect for all those enjoying the space.  If you need to take a call, please do so in our reception area.  Please also be mindful of others using the space and turn your phone to silent to avoid disturbances during your workout.   

Do you offer private sessions?  Yes!  Private sessions are most suitable for students recovering from injury, who are pregnant or have other conditions that require special attention.  Elite athletes and those who just like to guarantee they get the most for their minute enjoy private lessons as well.

How long are classes/private sessions?  All of our classes and private sessions are 50min. unless otherwise noted.

I’m under 18 years old, can I come to class? Our classes are only suitable for those over 16. If you are between 16-18 years of age and would like to come to any classes/workshops, you need to be accompanied by someone over 18.

Do you have classes for children?  Currently, we do not have any classes suitable for children.

Do you train clients in their home?  Yes! We offer clients from all over the world to train with our teachers over Skype.  This type of session can be booked online  all you need is a good internet connection and a pilates mat and we can get started!

Can I hire out the studio?  On occasion, this may be possible for special events and we are an ideal spot for press events and product launches.  Please contact us if you would like to partner with us for future events.
